A GAME OF VERY PROFESSIONAL BLUFFING

Who Didn’t
Read the Doc?

One absurd office policy. One person who didn’t read it.
A room full of people trying to sound like they did.

4–10 players8–20 min / round

Free. No sign-up. Works on your phone or laptop.

YOUR CARD · EXAMPLE

You read the doc.

“Replace all team chat with carrier pigeons.”

DON’T SAY

pigeoncarrierbird

“Should we budget for a rooftop?”
Now that’s a productive comment.

THE AGENDA

Three steps. A lot of suspicion.

01

Read the room.

Everyone gets the same absurd office doc. One person gets nothing. That’s the faker.

02

Sound convincing.

Take two turns to leave a comment. Hint at the doc, avoid the banned words, and watch for suspicious confidence.

03

Call the bluff.

Debate, then vote in secret. Catch the faker and they get one last guess. The readers decide if it’s close enough.

Keep it professional. Ish.

One sentence per turn. Two rounds, with the second in reverse order. Don’t repeat a point, and avoid the card’s banned words and their listed variants. Blocked comments stay private; three blocked attempts skip that turn.

After a 90-second discussion, secretly vote for someone else. A tied vote gets defenses and a revote. A second tie means the faker gets away.

Five points. Eternal bragging rights.

Faker gets away+2 to faker
Caught, but guesses the doc+1 to faker
Caught, and guesses wrong+1 to readers who caught them

Readers judge the guess. A strict majority must accept it; a tie rejects it. First to 5 wins. Shared winners are possible.

BEFORE SOMEONE ASKS

A few things to know.

Do we need accounts or an app?+

No. One person creates a room and shares the invite link. Each player opens it on their own phone or laptop and enters a name.

How many people can play?+

4–10 people, with one faker each round. We recommend 5–8 for a lively discussion.

Do we need a video call?+

No. Comments and debate can be typed in the game. A video call alongside is fun, but completely optional.

What happens if a vote is tied?+

Tied suspects each get a one-line defense, then everyone votes again. A second tie lets the faker escape. For the final guess, readers must agree by a strict majority: a tie means the guess is incorrect.

How long does a game take?+

A round usually takes 8–20 minutes, depending on the group and how quickly people respond. The host can choose 30, 45, or 60 seconds per comment. Play a single round or keep going until someone reaches 5 points.

What if someone disconnects?+

The round pauses until they return. The host can remove a disconnected player, which cancels the unfinished round without points or revealing the doc. A new round can start with at least four players.

Are the docs generated during the game?+

No. Each round picks from a curated pack of 80 original, fictional office announcements. No live AI service or external download is needed.

Let’s see who’s winging it.
